A SPINSTER'S ADMONITION

A SPINSTERS ADMOINITION - Composed & Illustrated by Avyrill
A SPINSTER’s ADMONITION

Watch it lady,
how you peddle your gem;
The gem of your glory,
the pride of your grace.

Some trade it on
a platter so cheaply,
for a tawdry token,
or some flimsy wad.

Be careful lady,
how fastidious you delay;
When the bachelor boom,
builds a queue at your door.

Be discerning, woman,
to make your choice,
among masked faces
that glitter in your eyes.

Soon the noon breeze,
would blow about wild;
And the morning bloom,
blow along too.

The bees and the birds,
now would flit away;
And desolate you will stay
and like a barren stalk,
all naked and bare,
in regrets you’d bow your head.

Be on time woman,
to smell the coffee;
The flabs and creases,
are building slowly.

Tides and seasons
come and go,
and so would your chances do.
